Q. What is pulsed-light hair removal?

A. Pulsed-light hair removal is a new and advanced, long-term hair removal method.

Q. What body areas can I get treated?

A. Any area, except around the eyes. The underarms, legs, back, bikini line, face, neck, etc., can all be treated... fast!

Q. What are the pulsed-light treatment sessions like?

A. Quick and easy! After your initial preparation, your treatment provider will move a wand-like hand piece over your skin. The hand piece emits a beam of specially filtered light, which is absorbed by the hair and converted to heat. This heat disintegrates the hair and disables the hair follicle. New hair growth will be delayed and a percentage of hair may not grow back at all. Once this is completed, the treatment provider will wipe away any loose hair from your skin, and you're ready to go!

Q. Does it hurt?

A. No. The light is selectively absorbed by the hair and hair follicles. The skin itself is exposed to little heat. Plus, no irritating chemicals are used and the hairs are not pulled on in any way.

Q. Do I have to let my hair grow out before I can get treated?

A. Not at all... with pulsed-light treatments, there's no need to let hair grow out before you remove it. Light penetrates beneath the skin to reach the hair follicles. If you wish, you can get treated at regular intervals so that your skin remains virtually hair free all the time.

Q. What should most people expect after treatment?

A. Most people experience some mild redness and tenderness in the treated area shortly after treatment. This does not interfere with normal activities and usually subsides within a day. In some cases the redness may last longer, but will still be mild and temporary. Your treatment provider will explain other less likely side effects you may have.

Q. What is the difference between laser and pulsed-light treatments?

A. Pulsed-light systems and lasers are very similar and remove hair in basically the same way. However, the Palomar EsteLux uses a new technology that removes hair up to ten times faster than lasers. EsteLux pulsed-light treatments can fit even the busiest person's schedule.

Q. Why would you need electrolysis?

A. Because the pulsed-light treatments doesn't target gray or white hair. Electrolysis and Pulsed-light Hair Removal work hand in hand. One targets dark hair, while electrolysis targets the white hair to meet all of you hair removal needs.
